I believe “That Moment” is one of my most interesting and important compositions. The piece originated as a simple piano instrumental piece, which I composed in 2021 and did not initially intend to do much more with it. Then on June 24, 2022, I was inspired to write lyrics as the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, just a few weeks before my first granddaughter was due to be born (she was born on July 9th). So naturally, my mind was on the fate and condition of unborn children and I believe I wrote all the lyrics within that single day and eventually help make them fit with the instrumental piece that I composed about a year earlier.
All that being said, I don’t believe I’ve ever performed it or recorded it to its maximum capability, including when it was re-done for the 2026 Sinclair Soul compilation Pieces of the Past. The song is in several keys and very hard to sing with a limited vocal range. Perhaps someday I could get a better vocalist to record this one. Anyway, the version that is on this solo record is pretty simple and straightforward with me playing all the instruments, while the later version is slight extended and features a couple of guitar leads by Bret Alexander along with drums by Ron Simasek.

Lyrics
She is there right now at the fountainhead, the inception, the alpha
A place where we all once knew, a state that we’ve all been through
A celebrated infancy, some long awaited joviality
The world’s new successful turn, a fascination to discern as
We’re getting older now, but in some ways it’s not so bad
Some better days are yet to be had, neoteric chapter, I’ll be so glad to…
See you someday, to carry you through the maze
And to philosophize on the ways of the force
To live for that moment of truth throughout your flourishing youth
To seize the day while propelling its course
John the Baptist leaped with joy at first acquaintance with the sacred boy
Somehow he just knew and…
It wasn’t just some magical thing, it was momentousness beyond our understanding
For we’re still within our infancy, when it comes to that proficiency though…
We’re getting older now, but in some ways it’s a graceful gain
A convention of the preordained, neoteric reigns and I’ll ascertain to
See you someday, be elevated above the haze
Live in harmony with the ways of the force
Fulfill that moment of truth with a reawakened youth
Seize the day by fulfilling it’s course
I know it’s such a leap of faith but we will be here again someday,
I know things are arranged that way, just need keep the faith
